The story could not have been scripted better for Brett Maher.

Not only did the Ottawa RedBlacks kicker boot the winning field goal against the Toronto Argonauts last Friday, Maher also scored every RedBlacks point -- all field goals -- to secure the 18-17 Ottawa win.

Oh, and it was also the first-ever RedBlacks victory in the first-ever game played at TD Place.

And that still wasn't the best part for the 24-year-old CFL rookie from Nebraska: his wife Jenna and five-week-old baby daughter Maela were in the stands to see it all happen.

"It was awesome, they came down to the field after," Maher said following Tuesday's practice and the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees field. "That was cooler than anything that the game offered."
