OTTAWA - Cornerback Jovon Johnson was whooping it up as he ran down the sidelines, with no one between him and the end zone, after intercepting a pass during a RedBlacks practice that exceeded two hours Sunday.

He’d like nothing better than to execute a similar “pick six” against his old friends in Winnipeg later this week.

“We have a third and one mentality,” the former Blue Bomber explained later when asked about the identity the Ottawa defence has adopted. “When you think like that, that means on third and one you want to get off the field. We want to get off the field as much as we can, as soon as we can, so whether it’s a turnover or forcing some teams into two and outs, that’s what our motto is.”
