Larry Parker has been itching for the opportunity since he was cut by the NFL's Arizona Cardinals a couple of weeks into the 2012 season.

But his dream of playing professional football, this time with the Ottawa RedBlacks, got put on hold a day. Parker's flight, out of his home town of San Diego, was supposed to lift off at 11 or so Tuesday morning, but didn't get airbound until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

"It wasn't discouraging, it was time consuming," said Parker, a 25-year-old defensive back who the RedBlacks signed to a contract a couple of months ago, but had to miss Day 1 of rookie camp. "I just wanted to get out here and play. I've been excited since mini camp. I couldn't wait to get here."
