A few hundred miles away from the behind-closed-doors CFL-CFLPA chit-chats, 40-something guys who want to play in the CFL were deeply engaged in the first day of the Ottawa RedBlacks rookie camp Wednesday afternoon.

And while the rookies were revving up their motors, with newly signed guys like 2013 draft picks Nolan MacMillan and Connor Williams trying to soak up as much as they could, a quarterback whose wonderful CFL career will one day carry him into the Hall of Fame was standing on the sidelines at Carleton University's Keith Harris Stadium in a RedBlacks T-shirt and shorts -- just watching, smiling that Henry Burris smile.

The 38-year-old Burris arrived in Ottawa on Monday, preparing for this as if there was no labour strife, as if everything will be a go to push ahead with the Sunday start to the main training camp.
