OTTAWA - The CFL season is still six months away and the Ottawa RedBlacks already have a pretty good quarterback tandem and some strong local content.

With two of their picks in the first round of Monday’s CFL expansion draft, the RedBlacks grabbed Calgary Stampeders QB Kevin Glenn and B.C. Lions QB Thomas DeMarco.

In the non-import portion of the draft, the RedBlacks grabbed fullback John Delahunt, a former Ottawa Sooner. Ottawa also wound up with Toronto Argos offensive lineman Joe Eppele, Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker James Green, Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman Keith Shologan, Edmonton Eskimos offensive lineman Alexander Krausnick, Calgary Stampeders offensive lineman J’Michael Deane, Montreal Alouettes fullback Patrick Lavoie and B.C. offensive lineman James Albright.

In the import portion of the draft, the RedBlacks, using a philosophy of taking “the best player available,” also grabbed Alouettes defensive lineman Moton Hopkins, Argos defensive lineman Jonathan Williams, Tiger-Cats running back Chevon Walker, Blue Bombers receiver Wallace Miles, Roughriders offensive lineman James Lee and Eskimos receiver Carlton Mitchell.

The RedBlacks will choose eight more non-imports.

“We feel we got the best two quarterbacks that were available of the guys who were not going to be free agents,” said RedBlacks GM Marcel Desjardins.

“We got a combination of veteran leadership and a young player. And Kevin is very familiar with what we will want to do offensively.”
