OTTAWA - The first thing you need to know about Rick Campbell is he comes from good roots. His father, Hugh Campbell, was a legendary CFL coach, player and GM -- most notably with the great Edmonton Eskimos teams of the 1980s that helped build a large part of the reputation of the City of Champions.

The next thing you have to know: Rick Campbell got here on his own and paid his dues.

Introduced as the first head coach in Ottawa RedBlacks history during a news conference Friday just down the street from Algonquin College, the hard work, long hours, dedication and, indeed, the learning finally paid off for the 42-year-old Campbell.
