There are plenty of coaches around the CFL who are looking to become fast friends with Marcel Desjardins.
But butt kissing is probably pretty low on the Ottawa RedBlacks GM’s list of criteria as he dives headfirst into the extensive process of hiring the team’s first head coach.
Right now, Desjardins is doing a lot of that thing they call due diligence, basically digging into backgrounds. He has interviewed at least a couple of candidates already — former Winnipeg Blue Bombers coach Paul LaPolice is one of them — and expects to meet face-to-face with more through this week and next. The drama perhaps grew a bit more intriguing Wednesday when B.C. Lions offensive co-ordinator Jacques Chapdelaine, who it’s said wants to return east, quit.
