New Ottawa CFL team will have original name

OTTAWA - Ottawa’s CFL team will soon have a name and there’s one thing you can count on — it’ll be unique.
It won’t be the name of an existing team in the football world.
“Some of the names that were suggested (in an online Name Our Team campaign that ended last weekend) were of other existing football teams,” said Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group’s Jeff Hunt. “We felt that was a dealbreaker.
“Raiders was suggested, Bears was suggested. We had to think: Do we really want to consider not only a name that is the same as another sports team, it is the same as another football team?”
