OTTAWA - As Ottawa’s CFL team forges ahead in its search for its first GM, it’s up to Jeff Hunt to sort through the haves and have-nots.

One guy he’s talked to, Montreal Alouettes assistant GM Marcel Desjardins, has to be considered a top candidate for plenty of reasons.

“There has been communication (with the Ottawa CFL group),” said Desjardins. “We had a very brief discussion a couple of weeks ago.”

Desjardins has ties to Ottawa, serving an internship with the Canada Games Council in 1993, living in Sandy Hill, then Gloucester. His brother Philippe and sister Monique both went to the University of Ottawa, while he pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a specialization in sports administration at Lakehead.
