Ottawa CFL owner Jeff Hunt eyes 3 or 4 'perfect fits' for GM, including 2 in NFL

TORONTO - TORONTO — Jeff Hunt has a pretty good idea what he’s looking for when it comes time to hire the first GM of the new Ottawa CFL franchise.
So while he’s sorting through applications, he’s got his eyes on some other guys who haven’t fired off their resumes.
“Right now, there are three or four guys in the universe who I think would make a great fit, the perfect fit for us,” said Hunt of the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group. “There’s no certainty, of course, that those guys will be available to us.
“If you’re going to have rigid criteria, the world gets smaller. There are two specific guys in the NFL I really like ... both have maybe been through the CFL, they know it intimately. So far, those two guys haven’t applied. It’s my job to reach out and get permission to talk to the guys involved.”
Hunt did interview a candidate with a coaching background during Grey Cup Week.
“Coaching is one of the roads to becoming a GM,” said Hunt. “If I had to stop today, I could live with the candidates in front of us. There’s no doubt we’d get a quality person.”
