Sandy's swingin' at Wright

Sandy Annunziata could lose his mammoth six-figure contract because the Ottawa Renegades have been mothballed - and he's swinging at Tom Wright.

A member of the 2005 Eskimo Grey Cup team, the 11-year veteran offensive lineman signed a five-year contract for about $100,000 per season with the Renegades this winter.

The league is promising a dispersal draft, but Annunziata might be passed over unless he takes a cut.

The 36-year-old non-import might not be the only Renegade stuck in this spot.

For that, and the overall Ottawa debacle, Annunziata blames the commish.

"(Tom Wright) should lose his job for this," he said. "How are you going to mothball the franchise and bring it back? It makes no sense."

The serious problems in Ottawa came to light last month when Wright was on vacation.

"Tom Wright should go back on vacation," said Annunziata. "He should stick his head back in the sand.

"The warning signs were there and you're waiting until six or seven weeks before training camp to start the process (of selling the team)?"
