Police in Hamilton aren't laying charges against two former Ottawa Renegades assistant coaches following an incident at a downtown Hamilton restaurant last month.

Greg Marshall and Richard Harris, the Ottawa coaches, became involved in an altercation with Tiger-Cats fans following a game at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

Police began an investigation after receiving complaints of assault from two men, aged 21 and 20, who received minor injuries.

One of the men contacted TV network TSN to report that he had been attacked by members of the Renegades coaching staff.

Police then issued a press release on the incident, stating it had begun an investigation involving "persons in Ottawa Renegade attire" after being contacted by a TSN reporter.

According to witnesses, the coaches were badgered by the men at a downtown burger joint near the team's hotel, following a loss by the Renegades to the Ticats.

Marshall and Harris both lost their coaching positions with the Renegades following a purge of the CFL team's football operations staff by club management at the end of the regular season.
