Some things worth noting ...

DON BRENNAN -- Ottawa Sun

Ones that got away: When Jason Armstead fumbled at the end of a strong kick return in the first quarter, it was Gatineau's Matthieu Proulx who was credited with knocking the ball loose.

Talk about a double whammy. Proulx was drafted by the Als with the first-round pick they received in exchange for kicker Matt Kellett, who missed his fifth game of the season last night with a strained groin.

BLOCK OF THE GAME: Josh Ranek destroyed Als LB Kevin Johnson with a shoulder to chest crunch that allowed Kerry Joseph about 10 extra yards on a third-quarter run.

BREAKING THE GOOSE EGG: Ranek scored his first rushing touchdown of the season with a nine yard run with less than two minutes left in the game.

EDWARDS TIMES TWO: Terrence Edwards threw the ball to his father in the crowd after scoring the game's final touchdown -- a 49-yard run off a Renegades on-side kick attempt. His brother, former New England Patriots RB Robert Edwards, also ran for a TD. It was the first time the Als scored on a kickoff return since 1987. It also marked the first time in Als history two brothers scored a touchdown in the same game.
