Former NFL first rounder Dimitrius Underwood isn't a lock to make the Renegades roster.
"He has to show more," Paopao told reporters yesterday. "(He's been) okay, a little rusty. He's really an edge guy and we have him inside. I've been watching one-on-one's and teamwork. The coaches think he is smart, has good hands and knows how to use them. He's okay."
Said Underwood: "It's good to be back (in football). The camaraderie with the guys gives you the chance to be a part of something. The competition has been good. I'm looking forward to the first pre-season game and instead of beating up on teammates beating up on somebody else."
HASH MARKS: Eleven-year veteran Johnny Scott is expected to join the Renegades as early as today, meaning one player will have to go to keep within limits. Had Ottawa waited for him to be released outright, it could have offered him a lower salary ... Paopao's assessment of Saturday's Rookie Show? "It wasn't that good. Bottom end of the ones I have been a part of. One or two of the skits were pretty good, particularly when they (mocked) Tommy (Condell, quarterbacks and receivers coach)." ... 'Gades president Lonie Glieberman finds himself too busy with preparations for the upcoming season to attend a "media training" course the CFL wanted him to take, starting today. It has been rescheduled.
