Josh Ranek isn't about to share any of his goals for the upcoming season.
The popular Renegades star running back will only say he wants to improve on last season's output of 1,060 rushing yards.
He won't reveal the target number.
But what he will say is the Renegades will improve on last year's 5-13 season.
"Most of the guys, when they left, they probably wanted to get out of town as fast as possible because it was so disappointing in the end," said Ranek.
"We had a lot of potential starting out, but we couldn't get back, and that's frustrating, knowing that you have potential for better."
He lived in Minneapolis during the winter and changed his routine in the weight room, concentrating his workouts to improve speed and what he calls explosiveness off the snap.
"I'm just trying to take what I do in the weight room and have it come out more out on the field," he said.
IN THE OPEN: The Renegades will hold a scrimmage at Kemptville College on Saturday afternoon starting at 3. It's open to the public, and players will sign autographs following the session.
OUCH LINE: C Mike Sutherland suffered a suspected broken hand and missed yesterday afternoon's practice. It's another bad camp break for the Ottawa native, who missed most of last year's training camp with an injured knee. Sutherland is the fourth O-lineman to go down during camp. The others: Val St. Germain (groin), Samir Chahine (hamstring), Christian Liebl-Cote (knee).
ODDS AND ENDS: SB Yo Murphy is showing no signs of slowing down. The 34-year-old former NFLer made a great, diving catch in the back of the end zone yesterday from Kerry Joseph ... Another receiver that's impressing is import Bashir Yamini ... Import FB Sean Bennett took a big hit in the afternoon -- from defensive line coach Richard Harris. Bennett ran into the gigantic Harris while running for a pass during one of the drills ... Import OL Reggie Nelson is expected to join camp either today or tomorrow.
