The ongoing discussions over a change in ownership at the Ottawa Renegades has city officials concerned as they try and renegotiate parts of the lease for Lansdowne Park. Sources say Ottawa Mayor Bob Chiarelli sent a letter to the 'Gades yesterday asking the team to explain the ownership situation to the city.
Chiarelli had been assured the ownership issues would have been dealt with soon after the Grey Cup, but now the city finds itself in the start of the New Year with ownership questions lingering and no finalized lease deal with the team.
The Renegades' lease for Lansdowne includes a provision that the deal would be renegotiated after three years and the costs increased to reflect some of the maintenance costs at Frank Clair Stadium.
Those discussions have begun with the team arguing it should be paying less and not more for the facility.
