TORONTO -- Montreal quarterback Anthony Calvillo and defensive end John Bowman, Hamilton kick returner Marcus Thigpen and Saskatchewan slotback Andy Fantuz have been selected as the CFL's top performers for July.
Calvillo, who has guided the Alouettes to a 4-1 record to start the season, earned offensive honours after leading the league in passing yards (1,606) and completion percentage (69.9%) to go with 10 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He is currently second on the CFL's all-time list in passing yards and touchdowns.
Bowman earned the monthly defensive accolades after registering six tackles, six sacks and four forced fumbles. His signature game came in Week 4 in a 37-14 win over Hamilton that saw him record four sacks and force a pair of fumbles.
Taking home the special teams honour was Thigpen, who has accumulated 331 yards on kickoff returns, 205 on punts and 189 on missed field goals, and has scored on a kickoff return, a punt return, and a missed field goal return.
Rounding out the monthly winners was Fantuz as the top Canadian player, for catching 25 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns.
