CFL Week 9 Picks

JIM BENDER, KIRK PENTON and PAUL FRIESEN -- Winnipeg Sun

, Last Updated: 9:02 AM ET

TODAY

B.C. at Winnipeg, 7 p.m., TSN (local blackout likely in effect)

Bender: As our own Cpt. Kirk so aptly put it last week: No Milt, No Glenn, No chance. And if the Big Blue Berry's boys don't remember how to block, catch and tackle, it could be a blowout no matter who is at QB for B.C. Leos.

Penton: Buck vs. Mike. We'll give this one to the slightly better defence. Bombers.

Friesen: If it was just Kevin Glenn missing, maybe. If it was just Milt Stegall hurt, I'd seriously think about it. But both? Sorry. B.C.

Wyman's coin flip: B.C.

TOMORROW

Saskatchewan at Edmonton, 8:30 p.m., TSN

Bender: The last-place Eskimos sure has a nice ring to it but the pressure is on to avoid another embarrassment at home. Eskies.

Penton: The noose around Danny Maciocia's neck is getting tight. It'll loosen up a bit after this one. Eskimos.

Friesen: Two head coaches feeling the heat, no doubt. I'll take the one playing at home and coaching the defending Grey Cup champs. Edmonton.

Wyman's coin flip: Edmonton

SATURDAY

Toronto at Hamilton, 6 p.m., TSN

Bender: Fire an assistant coach at mid-season? Sounds like a Reinebold move. And the 'Cats are starting to growl under the Little Potbellied General. Tiger-Cats.

Penton: The Tabbies are on a relative roll, while the Argos, well, we're not sure what's up with them. Tiger-Cats.

Friesen: The Ticats got a big lift beating the Bombers last week, while the Argos need more than Damon Allen to get out of their current funk. Hamilton.

Wyman's coin flip: Hamilton

Montreal at Calgary, 9 p.m., TSN

Bender: Just a hunch but Burris may be ready to beat the unbeaten Birds. Stamps.

Penton: Does the streak finally come to an end? Nah. Alouettes.

Friesen: So far, the Alouettes are in a class by themselves this season, with everybody else either hot-and-cold, mediocre or downright awful. Montreal.

Wyman's coin flip: Montreal
