OTTAWA - The Montreal Alouettes signed one guy that had been rumoured heading to the Ottawa RedBlacks and added another with a strong Ottawa connection Friday.

The Alouettes struck deals with receiver Dave Stala, who had been released by Hamilton, and Geoff Coventry, who played for Bishop's and is from Orleans.

Stala, a 34-year-old former Alouette, spent the past five seasons in Hamilton after joining the Tiger-Cats as a free agent in 2009. The former product of Saint Mary's registered 263 catches for 3,336 yards and 20 TDs in 86 regular season games with the Ticats.

Coventry snagged 37 catches for 525 yards and two touchdowns last season. The 24-year-old was named to the 2013 RSEQ all-star team.
