Look out below, you Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Seemingly poised to give the Argonauts a run for first in the CFL East after a home-and-home sweep of Toronto, the Ticats instead took a huge step backward Sunday, getting blown out 36-5 by first-time starting QB Troy Smith and the Montreal Alouettes before 23,390 at Molson Stadium.

Now, with two weeks left, the Ticats (8-8) have to be weary of giving up second place and a home playoff game to the Als (7-9). Hamilton can clinch second with a win in the second half of this home-and-home series Saturday in Guelph, but that won’t happen without a dramatic improvement across the board.
