Montreal - The Montreal Alouettes signed free agent cornerback Dwight Anderson on Wednesday.

Anderson played for Calgary last season and was named a CFL All-Star thanks to 49 tackles and five interceptions -- returning two for touchdowns.

"We are excited to give Dwight an opportunity to come in and compete. He has been one of the top DB's in the league over the last couple of years," Alouettes vice president and general manager, Jim Popp said. "He is fearless in his approach and plays a physical style game. He can help bring our already-good secondary to another level."

Anderson has spent time with Hamilton (2007) and Calgary (2008-10) and played 15 games for the NFL's St. Louis Rams between 2004-05.

What do you think of the name 'RedBlacks' for the new Ottawa CFL franchise?
  It's awful
  Guess it works
Meh, I don't follow the CFL
  Best name yet
