MONTREAL -- The Montreal Alouettes inked defensive back Jerald Brown to a three-year contract on Monday.

Brown tied for third in the CFL last season with five interceptions, and ranked third on the Alouettes with 57 tackles, including four for a loss.

"Jerald Brown came into the CFL and to the Alouettes two years ago and instantly caught everyone's attention. He is an all-round player that can play any coverage and has no fear," said Montreal GM Jim Popp. "Since his arrival, Jerald has fit right into the Alouettes' organization on the field and in the locker room."

The 30-year-old native of Washington, DC and Glenville State product played five seasons in the Arena Football League before landing with the two-time defending CFL champs in 2009.
