Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo had surgery Thursday in Montreal for a lesion on his thyroid gland.
The Alouettes said the procedure went well and "preliminary results are encouraging."
Final pathology information will be received in a few weeks, a team statement said. Calvillo "is expected to have an uneventful recovery."
In the wake of the Alouettes' 21-18 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Grey Cup game, Calvillo, 38, announced he needed the surgery and said it was weighing on his mind.
