MONTREAL — In recent times, he has been the Montreal Alouettes version of Hank The Shank.

Years ago, former Argo/Edmonton Eskimo kicker Hank Ilesic was slapped with that nickname when his accuracy

— or lack thereof — suddenly became an issue.

Heading into Sunday’s Eastern final against Toronto at Olympic Stadium, the Als’ Damon Duval is facing those same gremlins, having missed four of his final eight field goal attempts after returning from a hamstring injury.

One of those off-target efforts was a 19-yard shank in the Als final regular-season game, a 30-4 drubbing at the hands of the Argos.

Making matters worse: every time Duval fails to convert, Argos star kick returner Chad Owens will be waiting to take the ball the other way.

“Any long field goals we attempt, we’ve got to know you’ve got the most dangerous special teams weapon in the CFL back there,” Duval said. “We’ve got to make sure we put them through the uprights and not give them the chance.”
