MONTREAL - Montreal Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo has been released from the hospital and is resting at home.

Calvillo was removed from Thursday’s 39-17 rout of Winnipeg at Molson Stadium with a bruised sternum, suffered when he fell on the football after Bombers linebacker Odell Willis leveled him with a crushing hit on a sack.

The veteran signal-caller was removed from the game on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital for examination and evaluation. He was kept an extra night due to the unexpected seriousness of the injury.

Montreal has a bye this week before returning to action September 3 against the B.C. Lions.
