Ed Philion couldn't resist. How could he, when asked about Troy Westwood?

The retired Alouettes lineman, who jousted with Westwood for years, didn't need much time to come up with a farewell message for the recently released Bomber kicker.

"Now he's got time for America's Got Talent, or Dancing with the Stars," Philion, in town with the Alouettes radio broadcast team, said yesterday.

Philion and Westwood never had much time for each other, Westwood even accusing the Als defender of directing a racial slur his way during a game. Philion says the animosity is easy to explain.

"We always won," he said. "And I don't think he really liked that. He liked being in the paper, he liked the attention. He was the mouth of the team. A lot of that was publicity-driven. It motivated us."

At the same time, Philion tipped his cap to Westwood's 17-year run.

"I never liked him, but he had a great career," he said. "If you can make it to 40, he was fortunate enough to do it. Now he's gotta find something else to do."
