HAMILTON - All that stands in the way of Linden Gaydosh joining the Hamilton Tiger-Cats is his signature on a contract.

The Ticats are on the verge of adding the defensive lineman, who was picked first overall by Hamilton in the 2013 Canadian Football League draft.

“It’s great to have him,” Ticats general manager and head coach Kent Austin said on Wednesday. “He is a great player. We drafted him for a reason. I’m just glad he is in town.

“We’ll see if we can get things finalized with him and get him on the field as soon as possible.”

Gaydosh, a 6-foot-3, 310-pound native of Peace River, Alta., signed with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League not long after the Ticats selected him. The Panthers released the 23-year-old, who was a standout at the University of Calgary, in August.

Austin was asked what the plan will be for Gaydosh in the next couple of weeks.
