The storyline, from a distance, would appear to be juicy, one full of drama.

When the Hamilton Tiger-Cats play host to the expansion Ottawa RedBlacks on Saturday night at McMaster University in their 2014 Canadian Football League regular-season home opener, they will have the task of stopping a hungry Henry Burris, a proud veteran who is bent on revenge after the Ticats released him last winter.

Yet it won’t be a dominant Burris who arrives at Ron Joyce Stadium. The 39-year-old didn’t throw for a touchdown in the RedBlacks’ first win last week, a triumph by one point against the Toronto Argonauts, and he has completed passes at a 55.3% (47 of 85) clip in three games. Not since 2000, when he was with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, has Burris finished a season with a lower completion rate, when he connected on 53.5% of his attempts.
