The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have just over a week until their 2014 regular-season opener.

Quarterback Zach Collaros, like his teammates, has plenty of work ahead of him before the team travels to Regina to meet the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a rematch of the 2013 Grey Cup.

Collaros, who immediately became the Ticats’ No. 1 quarterback when he signed a three-year contract in January after he was released by the Argonauts, didn’t get much help from a leaky offensive line in a 41-23 Ticats loss on Thursday before 5,216 at Varsity Stadium.

Ticats head coach Kent Austin said on Wednesday he would put his group of quarterbacks against any other in the Canadian Football League.

While Collaros and his colleagues aren’t there yet, Austin liked what he saw in Collaros.
