Being on the football unemployment line in the dead of summer didn’t sit well with Brandon Banks.
It was, essentially, the end of a 20-year tradition.
“I’ve never been through an August where I’ve not been playing football since I was six years old,” the diminutive speedster, 25, recalled Thursday after a Hamilton Tiger-Cats practice at McMaster University. “Every August, I’ve been somewhere playing ball. Sitting there in August, being home in August, it was like ‘Ah, I’m not playing ball,’ and it got kind of tough for me. But it worked out in the end, so it’s all good.”
