Kendial Lawrence’s arrival in Hamilton was overshadowed somewhat by the signing of linebacker C.O. Prime.
Prime, as third-round pick of the Ticats in the 2013 draft and Canadian to boot, was more of a known commodity. The two arrived the same day the Ticats signed import Kevin Barnes.
It looks very likely that Lawrence will be a factor before either of the other two.
The former standout running back at Missouri has had a busy week returning kickoffs and lining up in the backfield behind quarterback Henry Burris, sometimes alone, sometimes with starting tailback C.J. Gable.
While nothing is set in stone, it appears Lawrence is poised to take over Tavoy Moore’s spot on the roster as the team heads to Moncton this weekend for its Touchdown Atlantic game with the Alouettes.
Lawrence brings a combination of superior speed and an impressive vertical jump that should come in handy at some point.
