Whatever you call it, Ticats must win

The Ticats meet the Edmonton Eskimos Friday.

It could get ugly. If recent history is to judge, this is a game neither team deserves to win.

Edmonton has one win. It needs to double that Friday to keep from falling out of contention in the West.

The Ticats are somewhat more fortunate, mostly due to geography. Playing in the East, while having only one win in five games, they remain relevant only due to the equal inadequacies of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Even the perennial powerbrokers from Montreal have scuffled to only a couple victories.

So, it is that Hamilton head coach Kent Austin refuses to admit this is a “must” game from a standings perspective.

But it is equally true that this game looms as a tipping point to the season for his struggling club.
