GUELPH — In a game where it was tough to tell the difference between cheerleaders and synchronized swimmers, the Edmonton Eskimos spoiled the Hamilton Tiger-Cats home-opener at Alumni Stadium, on Sunday.

In their home away from home at the University of Guelph, whose Gryphons are coached by former Eskimos player Stu Lang, the Ticats fell 30-20 in front of a near-capacity crowd of 12,612.

With the victory, the Eskimos avoided becoming the last winless team in the CFL, improving to 1-1 as Mike Reilly earned his first win as the Eskimos quarterback.

And they did it by shutting down the force formerly known as Lindsey Lamar, who has returned a kick or punt for a touchdown in each of his first three CFL outings, going back to the preseason.

Until Sunday, that is.
