The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released import defensive end Stevie Baggs Thursday.

Baggs played 25 games for the Ticats after signing as a free agent in Sept., 2010. Last season he made 50 tackles and had five sacks.

"We'd like to thank Stevie for his efforts both on and off the field, but we feel that it's in the best interests of our football team to move forward with different players on our defensive line," Ticats coach George Cortez said.†

Hamilton also inked a trio of import defensive ends --Angelo Craig, Darius Powell and Marc Schiechl --on the same day they let Baggs go.

Craig has spent time in the NFL with Cincinnati and New England and Schiechl spent 2011 with the Jacksonville Jaguars after a record-setting career at the Colorado School of Mines. Powell, a Fayetteville State product, played one game with Hamilton last season.
