Import running back Avon Cobourne was released Wednesday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced.

Cobourne became expendable when the Ticats signed running back Martell Mallett, the team said.

The 32-year-old Cobourne joined Hamilton last season and ran for 961 yards and eight touchdowns after five seasons with the Montreal Alouettes.

Cobourne has 4,262 career rushing yards and 35 touchdowns on 795 carries.

The Ticats also released non-import defensive lineman Luc Mullinder and non-import offensive lineman Simeon Rottier.
