HAMILTON -- The Tiger-Cats on Friday signed wide receiver Dave Stala to a two-year contract extension that will keep him in Hamilton through the 2012 season.

Stala has caught 61 passes for 753 yards and three touchdowns this year, placing him third among all CFL receivers in receptions and 11th in yardage.

"Since signing with us, Dave has been a reliable performer on the field and a key part of our offence," general manager Bob O'Billovich said. "He's been an excellent veteran presence in our locker room and a great representative of the team in our community as well. We look forward to seeing Dave continue to contribute both on and off of the field in the future."

The Saint Mary's product was originally drafted by the Montreal Alouettes in the sixth round (50th overall) of the 2003 CFL Canadian Draft. Stala spent six seasons with the Alouettes before signing with Hamilton on April 30, 2009.

Stala hauled in 67 passes for 751 yards and two scores last season for the Ticats.

In 88 career regular season games, he has recorded 273 receptions for 3,356 yards and 12 touchdowns.
