Last night in Hamilton

WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (1-2) 25

HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (2-1) 13

TOP OFFENSIVE PLAYER

Ticats receiver Chris Davis had a night to remember, hauling in six catches for 122 yards. He also snagged the eventual game-winning touchdown, a 32-yarder from Glenn, late in the third quarter. His tough catch, which came with Bomber defensive back Jonathan Hefney all over him, gave the hosts a 19-16 lead they would never relinquish.

TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYER

Bombers linebacker Siddeeq Shabazz could very well be named the CFL's defensive player of the week for the second time in a row. The former Edmonton Eskimo had a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown and eight tackles. Last week he had a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown and six tackles.

TOP SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER

Ticats placekicker-punter Nick Setta had a net -- net! -- punting average of 50.2 yards in helping Hamilton win the field position battle with ease. He also nailed three of four field goal attempts (his only miss was when he hit the post from 44 yards out) and his kickoff average was 54.8 yards.

KEY PLAY

Kevin Glenn put the dagger in the team that dumped him with 6:59 left in the fourth quarter. After marching the Ticats 51 yards, the quarterback found Dave Stala from 11 yards out to give the Tabbies a commanding 23-13 lead.

HIGHLIGHT REEL

Bombers running back Fred Reid, who wasn't impressed "at all" with the Ticats' defence going into the game, made a couple of nice moves at the line of scrimmage and then exploded for a 50-yard run in the second quarter. It was Winnipeg's longest run of the year. Reid finished with 88 yards on 16 carries.

SMACK OF THE GAME

It was one of the more hellacious collisions we've seen in a while. In the second quarter Ticats middle linebacker Otis Floyd flew over to the sideline to drill Stefan LeFors as he dived for the first down, but he went head first into the pivot's back and knocked himself out cold. He got up, but he went to the locker-room and didn't return.
