Hamilton police are investigating an altercation Saturday morning involving Ticats fans and members of the Renegades staff.

Renegades coach Joe Paopao would not comment after the Hamilton Police Service issued a press release yesterday on the incident.

"We're looking into the incident and we'll have some type of release in due time," Paopao said after practice yesterday.

Hamilton police reported that Tiger-Cat fans received minor injuries "when they became embroiled in an altercation involving two males wearing Ottawa Renegade attire."

The incident is being investigated, with Hamilton police "attempting to identify and interview all the participants."

The alleged altercation took place at a burger restaurant near the Renegades' hotel in downtown Hamilton following last Friday's 40-32 loss at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

One of the alleged Tiger-Cat fans involved, Zach Anderson, told TSN's website: "We were attacked for no reason other than stating, 'Ottawa sucks' in our conversation that they were clearly not a part of."

Witnesses, meanwhile, say several rowdy fans provoked the coaches inside the restaurant.
