Legendary faux news anchor Ron Burgundy will be hitting Canadian airwaves in December.

TSN announced Friday that Burgundy – a character played by comedian Will Ferrell in the Anchorman movie series – will join the network’s team of broadcasters and his role will be announced during Sunday’s Grey Cup broadcast.

“I can't tell you which show/sport Ron will be broadcasting for TSN, but I can pretty much guarantee it will be spectacular,” TSN sportscaster James Duthie tweeted.

In a release, TSN described Burgundy as “an award-winning News Anchorman and poet. He lives with his wife, Veronica, and dog, Baxter, in San Diego, California. When he is not making models of eighteenth-century sailing ships, he can often be found on the deck of his own boat, The Shining M'Lady, or supervising archaeological digs in and around his backyard.”

Burgundy, err, Ferrell has been making the rounds on TV lately, promoting his latest work, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, in full character. Among the highlights, he appeared on Conan this week to sing a song in support of embattled Toronto mayor Rob Ford.

Anchorman 2 will hit theatres Dec. 20.
