Even though it has become quite the popular achievement in the past two years, playing in your own Grey Cup is still a losing proposition.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders will attempt to become the third straight team to win a Grey Cup on its own turf this Sunday night when they tangle with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium.

The B.C. Lions and Toronto Argonauts won titles on their home fields in 2011 and 2012, respectively, but that brought the home team’s record to within only one game of .500 over the last 50 years. Since 1963, the team that has played in its own Grey Cup has a rather pedestrian record of 5-6.
