Als celebrate Grey Cup win

The play was quite familiar, as Ben Cahoon reached out to grab a pass from Anthony Calvillo.

Among the 44 Grey Cup receptions the veteran slotback has in his career, it wasn't one of the most spectacular ones.

But the 11-yard TD pass Cahoon caught in last night's 28-27 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders was key to the comeback victory.

It was also similar to his spectacular grab in the 2003 Cup loss the Edmonton Eskimos in that he dove at the end, this time across the goal-line.

For his five catches for 57 yards, Cahoon was named the most valuable Canadian, the second time he took the honour but first time in a victory.

"That was a CFL classic," Cahoon said. "It's unbelievable we had a chance at the end. We all thought it was over. The second chance was destiny."

Cahoon and Cavillo have been together for seven Grey Cup trips and the 37-year-old receiver was a go-to guy for his QB once again.

"Cahoon's the man," said quarterback Anthony Calvillo.

"We're two of the oldest guys in this league and we kept fighting and fighting. He's going to continue to get open and that's what he did tonight."

Along with Calvillo and Cahoon, veteran linemen Bryan Chiu and Scott Flory finally have their second Grey Cup rings in seven tries.

This one was the most dramatic, with the game-winning field coming on a second chance.

"It's a shame someone had to lose this game," Chiu said. "I'm happy that we were able to win.

"I remember coming here and losing 28-26 to the B.C. Lions here (in 2000) and now we win 28-27.

"We won once since Baltimore came to Montreal. It's come full circle with us getting a second Grey Cup.

"We were sitting on the sidelines and I was saying, 'I don't think I can lose another one of those games.' It's so emotionally draining to lose these games. We promised ourselves we were going to finish this game strong, and we did."
