Edmontonians are becoming the salt in Calgary's wounds as they cheer on Calgary's nemesis, the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Today at 4:30 p.m., the Roughriders will battle the Montreal Alouettes for the Grey Cup in Calgary.
Jeremy Bresciani would rather be one of the many Saskatchewan fans driving south from the provincial capital.
But he will have to watch the game instead from the comfort of his father's home.
That won't stop him from letting his Roughrider pride shine. Having grown up in Regina, the 35-year-old has been a Roughriders fan ever since childhood.
Even though he's called Edmonton home for the past 21 years, Bresciani has attended every Eskimos game whenever the Roughriders are in town, dawning his green face paint and wig.
After years of supporting the team through many winless seasons, seeing the Roughriders play in their second Grey Cup championship in two years is more than just a game for many fans.
"It's huge. The club as a whole is finally coming together and starting a winning tradition," said Bresciani, who will be decked out in his Roughriders jersey and other green gear.
In the weeks leading up to the Grey Cup, local Saskatchewan fans have cleared out several sports merchandise stores throughout Edmonton.
Belal Ghotme works as a sales associate for Jersey City in West Edmonton Mall and he said Roughriders fans have been emerging from the shadows more than ever, buying anything they can get their hands on.
"We have hardly anything left -- like three jerseys, no more T-shirts and a couple more hoodies," he said. "They are buying everything."
