No room to party for Alouettes

They may have made it to the big game, but the Montreal Alouettes and their faithful aren't hosting a multi-day party room unlike their Grey Cup nemesis.

One die-hard Als' fan was left wondering why that's the case while a group of Maritimers -- who don't even field a team -- are throwing a three-night bash.

John Holden said Als' fans have too much to cheer about to not rival the Saskatchewan-hosted Riderville which holds court through early Sunday morning in the Telus Convention Centre.

"That's terrible, because we're 15-3," Montreal ex-pat Holden said of the Alouettes' regular season record.

"There should be some equality."

Not every club's supporters are hosting a hospitality room during Grey Cup week.

And Als' loyalists are throwing a bash at Flames Central Saturday night.

But Roughrider fan Arlene Mongovius said her Montreal counterparts should party hardier.

"The CFL is nothing without the Als, so we'd like them to join us in the full, robust experience and get a party room," said the Saskatoon resident.

"Maybe they just don't have the volunteers."

Alouettes spokesman Olivier Poulin said it's just not their fans' tradition to operate a hospitality suite, but their annual one-night party has "been pretty great."

"I wouldn't say there's no need for a room, but we just don't have an event that repeats itself over the week."

There's never been a shortage of Montreal fan support, he added.

"I know a lot of our fans are making the trip -- we'll see a lot of them at the end of the week."
