MONTREAL — Chris Jones’s CFL coaching career came full-circle on Friday.

Back where it all began 13 years ago when he broke into the league as defensive line coach of the Montreal Alouettes under then-head coach and mentor Don Matthews, Jones was back on the opposing sideline for the first time as a head coach, himself.

And, with the 75-year-old Matthews on the home team’s side Friday night, Jones’ Edmonton Eskimos earned a 33-23 win.

It was a historic one, too. At least, for the Eskimos, who hadn’t won there since 2007 — a feat that wasn’t lost on their first-year head coach after the game.
