EDMONTON - You’d figure it would be a major family occasion.

You’d guess that sister Molly Campbell would drive up from Calgary where she works for the Stampeders and that mom and dad, Louise and Hugh Campbell, would make the trek from their lake location in Idaho.

You’d figure the entire clan would gather to celebrate Rick Campbell coming home as head coach of the new Ottawa franchise to go against the Eskimos Friday in Commonwealth Stadium.

But Rick is going to be here on his own.

Molly’s job, in communications with the Stampeders, is going to keep her in Calgary this weekend.

And Hugh ...

“I want to go to a game and I will,” he said in an hour-long telephone conversation after an evening spin around in his boat, one lake over from the one where Wayne Gretzky has his summer home near Coeur d’Alene.

“When he coached in Winnipeg I went to one game and the years he coached in Calgary I went to one game he coached each year,” he explained.
