Chris Jones’s first foray into the CFL’s coaching ranks kicks off with the start of training camp in two weeks.

And while he has a destination in mind for where he’d like to see his Edmonton Eskimos heading into the 2014 season, he’s not overly concerned about following a particular road map for where and when he wants to accomplish tasks.

“I don’t think you want to pigeon-hole yourself into saying: ‘We’re going to do this on this day,’ because then you have to make decisions that are maybe premature,” said the former Toronto Argonauts defensive co-ordinator, who has since surrounded himself by familiar faces from that franchise on both his roster and coaching staff. “We’ll just practise as we go and I think those things naturally take place.”

It’s not so much a blasé attitude as it is an effort to focus on the priorities as opposed to when they get done.
