EDMONTON - Edmonton Eskimos linebacker J.C. Sherritt is out indefinitely with a broken thumb, the team announced Tuesday.

The five-foot-nine, 220 pounder has tallied 37 tackles (5th in the league) through six games in 2013, as well as one sack.

The Esks (1-5) are tied with Winnipeg for last in the league and are on a four-game losing streak.

Sherritt underwent successful surgery during the team's bye-week and is out indefinitely.

The Green and Gold next visit the Toronto Argonauts (4-2) on Aug. 18.
