EDMONTON - Grant Shaw has been a three-trick pony for the Edmonton Eskimos all season.

His ability to punt, kick-off and hit field goals made Burke Dales expendable.

On Monday, the Eskimos released the veteran punter, leaving Shaw responsible for all the kicking duties.

“When we looked at the situation and how well Grant Shaw has done all three, we really felt that it was only fair to Burke Dales to allow him the opportunity to catch on with another team,” said Eskimos head coach Kavis Reed. “Burke has been absolutely exceptional as a pro with this, he’s been a mentor to Grant and has done all the right things for this football team. When we look at what is right and fair to Burke Dales, it is important to allow him to find a spot someplace else.”
