Statistically, Mike Reilly has been decidedly underwhelming.
The new Edmonton starting quarterback, who will equal his career total of three previous CFL starts with his third as an Eskimo Saturday evening at Commonwealth Stadium against his former B.C. Lions teammates, hasn’t exactly lit up the league.
He ranks a second-rate seventh on the yards passing with his total of 395 for the first two weeks of the season.
Reilly’s pedestrian pass completion percentage of 54.4% is lower than the 10 other quarterbacks who have taken snaps behind centre so far this season. His modest quarterback efficiency rating of 71.9 ranks eighth. And nobody has thrown as many interceptions as the four he’s tossed to date.
But there’s no sense of disappointment or letdown when it comes to Reilly’s performance so far behind what amounts to an entirely new offensive line.
