EDMONTON - Proving there is such a thing as too much of a good thing in the CFL, the Edmonton Eskimos traded Jerome Messam on Tuesday to the Montreal Aloeuttes for a sixth-round draft pick in the upcoming CFL draft on May 6.

The six-foot-three, 245-pound native of Brampton, Ont., wasn't able to return to the form that earned him the title of the CFL's most outstanding Canadian in 2011, after returning to the Eskimos last August following a preseason stint with the NFL's Miami Dolphins.

“We thank Jerome for what he brought to the team,” Eskimos head coach Kavis Reed said in a press release from the club. “This is a wonderful opportunity for him to continue on a successful path.”
